On Veteran’s Day 2013 staff from Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice visited Ray Bible. Leann Stewart (Social Worker) and Lisa Durham (Community Educator) presented him with a pin and certificate in honor of his service to our country.
Bible was born on Dec. 17, 1932. He entered the Army during the “Korean Conflict.” In addition to his two years of service in the Army, he also gave another six years in the Reserve.
Corporal Bible did not serve on the front line, rather he served the soldiers by providing their meals. Some of his duties included typing menus for the “Mess Sergeant” and ordering rations.
“After I got out of the service I realized how much I really enjoyed it,” said Bible.
“On the day I interviewed Mr. Bible I was touched by the gentleness of this soft spoken man,” said Lisa.
