Pearl Marion, RN, was honored as an Outstanding Senior by Covenant Health on Sat., Aug. 28, 2012, at the Tennessee Theatre in downtown Knoxville. Marion is the Intake Coordinator for Smoky Mountain Hospice – Knoxville Office. She was honored with 50 other seniors for their outstanding work in the community and their profession.
Marion has been a nurse for over 30 years and has served in numerous capacities as a community outreach coordinator. Her professional work has included serving as team leader, program manager, teacher and supervisor in the health care field. She is the lead nurse for the “Free Flu” Shot Campaign held annually in Knoxville. Pearl’s work with Smoky Mountain Hospice includes screening and taking orders when a physician refers patients for hospice care. She goes the extra mile to ensure that all has been taken care of when a call is received in the office.
“These seniors have done extremely well by giving back to our community in some special way,” said Stan Boling, Vice President of Senior Services at Covenant Health. ” They have a gift they’ve learned through life’s experiences—something they can give back.”
